Michael Vick

If you haven’t given up on Michael Vick in daily fantasy sports yet now would be the time. The veteran quarterback is facing a lot of flak right now from Philadelphia fans and there’s absolutely no guarantee that Andy Reid will continue to start him in the coming weeks. It may be too soon to say that the Eagles are out of the playoff race but the season is half over and Philadelphia should be better off than it is. The Eagles haven’t been a total disaster but they’re trailing several teams for the NFC wild card spots and they’ll need to show marked improvement in the second half of the season. Vick still has more turnovers than touchdowns and at this point that’s unlikely to change. He’s had time to correct his flaws and really when it comes to quarterbacks with over a decade of experience in the NFL we shouldn’t be talking about developing them and fixing their flaws; the flaws should have already been fixed years ago.

So let’s assume that Vick does start next week. What should we be expecting? Well, they get to play Dallas at home and that might be just the kind of defense to get Vick back on track in daily fantasy sports. You shouldn’t put too much faith in that but it is a possibility. The Dallas pass defense has been maddeningly inconsistent but they have given up big games in the past. With Maclin and Jackson healthy Vick will have every opportunity to convince the doubters in daily fantasy sports. In the unlikely event that Vick doesn’t start next week Nick Foles would take over for the Eagles. Foles is a rookie and we really have no idea how he’ll perform in the Eagles’ west coast offense but it would certainly be worth keeping an eye on him.
